DRAFT working palette for Logan transcriptions (data/sources/logan-1831): his colour vocabulary mapped onto the Tartan Register standard shades (data/sources/str-colours). Deliberately small and fully overlapping — every hex is a Register shade — so Logan-derived variants collapse with Register-coded records of the same sett. Name→shade mapping pending review.

The reference colour space the palettes above live in — not a supplier's card but the space itself, sampled evenly. The grid holds 123,552 colours: every point of the OKLab space a screen can show, taken at a spacing of 0.0101 in every direction and no closer. That spacing is two to three just-noticeable differences, so no two grid colours look the same, and none are wasted — the whole space at the resolution cloth can use.

The Scottish Register of Tartans' standard colour list — every shade the Register records threadcounts against, from its published 'Tartan Register colours' document (Aug 2023 edition); captured in data/sources/str-colours, where shades dropped since the 2016 edition are kept flagged superseded. Codes are numbered in document order where the Register reuses one code for several shades (R1…R11); ref keeps the published code.
